(Cross posting just about everywhere. Apologies to all who are members of all the same lists as I am. But, this is pretty important for artists.)
It's a sizable post, and I'm not sure how many of you have seen and/or posted this. But, the info under this cut is EXTREMELY useful. I suggest every artist that is looking to get some exposure in the professional artistic arena read this. Some of what you'll read happened to me just out of high school, 'cuz I was inexperienced.
At the risk of sounding like a "The More You Know" PSA from NBC, don't let it happen to you!

| X-Post: Calling All Inkers!! |
[11 May 2005|04:26am] |
|
(x-posted in artjam, furryartists and do -- My apologies if this doesn't seem applicable to any/all of these communities... I'm just trying to get this message out to as many people as possible.)
As of right now, I am seriously considering sanctioning the help of any and all willing artists for this book. What I need is an inker, or inkers (plural). My PREFERRED deadline is June 6th. My EXTENDED deadline is June 21st.
Now, even though I'm working full time, I still have a shot at finishing this myself. But, that will probably drain me of what little personality I've managed to cling on to throughout this existence I've laughingly called a life.
Asking for the help of fellow artists is something I've been seriously debating for some time, simply because I have very little that I can offer as payment. At BEST I can offer $10 per finished page. (I WILL be inking as well. So, that will cut costs somewhat for myself.) If, down the line, I find that I can offer more (at the very least a complimentary copy of the comic being a given), I promise that I will facilitate to the best of my abilities.
Anyone who is interested should email me directly at: pegasus316 [at] yahoo [dot] com.
This is being sent out to any and all who are interested. I will email a test page for you all to ink in whichever fashion you're most comfortable with. The details will be covered from there.
I will say that not every inking submission (should there be enough... much less ANY) that comes in will be accepted. Preferrably I would like to see inking styles that are at least somewhat close to mine. But, I will consider anything and everything that comes in right now.
Despite how truly pretentious that sounds, I'm honestly just trying to maintain a certain level of quality management.
Please contact me if you're interested. And, in advance, thank you for reading this far. :)
Seeya!

Yes, we're lame. We started this community and haven't got our bgs done, although mine is inked. So, the next contest is for this entire month, due on Oct. 31st, and dealing with word association. What do you think of, what do you create, when you hear the phrase, Ancient Ritual? It can be a real ritual, or something entirely fictional. It can be a single person, a group, a place, a time. Jam on!

Here you go: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/Nomadfox/backgroundartjamsmall.jpg
Gone for an alien/futuristic landscape theme. (most of the dark city lights in the background have been smudged by this jpg quality,I can make another tho) There is enough space on the beach foreground to add a couple of characters or something! I made the orbiting planets in studio max, you can make planets pretty quickly once you know the right ingredients for the atmosphere ^,^ making 'worlds' is another matter. This was made in potatoshop, though next time I'll see about using real media :P
Whatcha think? :)

| Raine's house hurricane delay? |
[25 Sep 2004|02:51pm] |
Hey guys, Hurricane Jeanne is heading right towards my house, so in the event I don't have power for awhile to finish my coloring, I may be late on my background. So sad, I start this community and can't even make deadline. >< But hopefully I'll have power enough to color, if not, I at least got to refined drawing.

I owe this artist a more public plugging.
For those who liked those frogs. Froggies were (c) Royce McClure. He's an amazing artist who's stuff I love. Those froggies were only collaged by me & apologies go out to any of those who were mislead to thinking I painted them. I like to think I'm good but I'm not -that- good folks ;) Anyway his art is gorgeous & deserves a plug if nothing else.

| Gettin' This Place Movin... |
[14 Sep 2004|11:50pm] |
Well now that my co-mod duties are out of the way & this journal has some personality to it, I may as well show off what I've been working on. This is still a WIP. Very rough right now but I hope to have it cleaned up & colored sometime soon. Honestly I'm rather pleased with how it's coming out although obviously I'm going to have to clarify & expand a few elements. Comments, Crits? Anything's appreciated. :3

Hi everyone and welcom to artjam! Lets start out with something that a lot of us don't like to think about. Backgrounds. Cartoony, realistic, photo, abstract, whatever. How about a background: for a painting, for an animation, for set design? How about by Sept 27th? :)
